2026

It feels like its all coming to ahead. Hold on.

Bobby just passed away. Not a great way to start the new year. What a loss for us Deadheads. His voice was totally unique. Sometimes completely frantic, sometimes out of tune, and sometimes complete nirvana. My favorite songs of his…Sampson, Not Fade Away, The Other One, Minglewood, and Jack Straw just to name a few. Of course his guitar work is equally impressive. You can always dive on in and ride on his guitar parts. They are always there. He was a very important ingredient which gave the group their signature sound.

Big loss in so many ways.

Lately, I’ve been doing my best to re-listen to the Europe ’72 shows. I know the shows but I want to dig into them more. I’ve listened to about 8 so far. Just finished 4/24/72 Dusseldorf, West Germany. That Dark Star. It has to in the discussion of being one of the very best Dark Stars they ever played.

My goal for 2026 is to listen to the 1972 shows in consecutive order. I usually start to stray and start listening to other years to change it up. But will do my best to say on target.

Bop Bop Bop, Bop Bop

Steven Santarpia is my name. I'm a big fan of both Radiohead and The Grateful Dead. The two best bands i've ever seen live. For the Grateful Dead, I mostly saw New York area shows. My first Grateful Dead show was in 1988. I've done a lot more traveling to Radiohead shows. My first Radiohead show was in 1997.

Favorite musical artists include The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Band, Radiohead, REM, Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys, Bjork, and The Grateful Dead.
